Tuning Into My True Voice

Why Did I Ignore My Inner Dialogue for So Long?

In 2019 I reached a weight that I was totally embarrassed of - a number that was shocking to me, and I knew I needed to make changes. The consequences were not good, if I didn’t make changes soon!!

All of the diets I was trying weren't sustainable, and only gave minimal results. I was on a popular calorie counting diet, and it was manipulating calories to get what I really wanted, but my health wasn’t improving.

As I approached 55 years old, the things that worked in my 20 & 30’s no longer made an impact on the number on the scale. And I feared I wouldn’t be here to watch my new grandchildren grow up.

My health was deteriorating, and I struggled with migraines, severe edema, body and joint pains, and out of control cravings & hunger. I needed to do something and wasn’t sure what to do. I remember praying for a sign and for a way to get healthy eating real food, with no pills or junk supplements. (This was before GLP-1 was available)

All of a sudden a program called WILDFIT kept jumping into my radar, I checked it out, decided to give it a try, and committed myself to it. I’m now a WILDFIT Master Coach - this is NOT a sales letter! It’s my heartfelt human message of what changed for me. I jumped in and decided to play full out with a coached group of 1800+ people. I hid in the background, but I did everything they suggested doing.

You see, I spent years moving so fast I couldn't hear myself anymore. Exhaustion, caregiving, overthinking, decision fatigue, people pleasing, being everyone's support person… These were the things I focused on everyday. There was very little time to focus on ME.

Changing my diet, taught me to Pause -

WILDFIT taught me to slow down, and pay attention to my Inner DIalogue, as I added healthy foods and removed foods that really weren't serving me.

When I added healthy foods - I learned to notice how my body felt - WOW!! I felt pretty good. When I removed sugar I finally understood what a drug addict might feel like! I was a sugar addict, and that statement embarrassed me, but it was true. The pause of listening to my Inner Dialogue was life changing!!

It was in this pause I learned to differentiate between what was going on between my Will & my True Inner Voice - my will wanted delicious foods and the desire to feed the constant cravings, versus what my body really needed to be healthy. This was powerful to me! My eyes were opened to pay attention to what was stirring in my heart. Giving credit to what was happening inside me was a new positive experience.

It’s taken some time for me to keep digging into layers to find real growth and understanding. And the funny thing is - I didn’t get the instant results I was looking for! But learning to be still, listening to the nudges of my body & heart made the most profound change in my life. The lessons continue, as I keep discovering more ways that I stopped listening to my True Voice.

What Became Clear???

That inner voice is leading me towards a healthy body and a happy heart - but I ignored it because things like cake with lots of frosting were so delicious!!! Because I kept lying to myself - ‘Just one more, I’ll start Monday’ - a day that was always next week, and never came. Because I did what I really wanted to do, and tried to make the junk food I craved - fit into my diet. My will was calling the shots. Trying to squeeze cake into a calorie counting diet was hard - Eating 300 calories of cake has a much different impact on my body than 300 calories of veggies. And I hated counting calories - it brought out the manipulator in me and the rebel always wanted to sneak in junk food!!

I ignored my inner dialogue for years - because I wanted what I wanted. I didn't want to be told what to do!

I learned that my True Voice wants me to be healthy, and find joy in life. I found that voice when things got quiet.

How Did I FLIP It Around?

The experience with WILDFIT taught me to stop doing what I always did, while looking for new results - that’s just not going to work!
I learned to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I played full out, I did everything they suggested. And I had BIG changes.

The migraines, edema, joint and body pains, were GONE when the program ended! I let go of some weight (not as much as I wanted to) and I gained confidence in myself. I loved this program so much I became a coach to help others find their way too! And I still follow the principles I’ve learned that have given me such help in feeling good again. I continue to unravel layers of my resistance around food - and honoring my True Voice! It’s real personal growth for me.

I learned to Stand and make better choices for myself! Putting myself 1st every single day, with the intention to love and nurture myself, that's the real foundation of what I learned in the WILDFIT program. This spilled out into other areas of my life. Beyond food - I learned to put what is best for me, above all the busy stuff that I used to fill my day with. I’m finding more peace and joy living like this.

I’m grateful that Spirit brought me the sign that I asked for - a way to get back to feeling healthy and eating real food. I was pleasantly surprised that it helped me find a way back to noticing my True Voice, and the courage to choose to Stand for myself!

Tuning into my body now means loving myself enough to eat the healthy food that I need. This is way more valuable tomorrow than eating something that just tastes good today! Because junk food today = feeling lousy tomorrow!
