Slowing Down ~ brings a new perspective!

Sacred Moments of Slowing Down . . .

Maybe it’s time to honor slowing down today? Being exhausted, tired and feeling run down, I’ve wrestled until I surrendered to the conclusion- it’s time to go with it.

I’m experimenting with slowing down. The tiredness I experience on the medications to block estrogen, is unlike what I’m used to. At first I felt lots of resistance around this. I wanted to return to my life and this inconvenience of feeling lousy - wasn’t part of my plan. Feeling exhausted after a few everyday activities, and I’m DONE for the day.

Pushing through only makes it worse. And slowing down makes a positive difference. I decided maybe it’s worth giving this Slow Down more of a chance?!

TIME TO PAUSE & NOTICE

At first when I ‘gave in’ to the tiredness and took time to rest, or go at a more simple pace, I felt like I was being too lazy. But the more I ‘gave in’ and rested - the more things shifted in my thinking. Suddenly I was going slow enough that now I could notice the simple moments differently. And Self-Care takes on a whole new meaning. Life is quieter!

At a slower speed, there’s other things to notice, if I’m paying attention. The quiet pace showed me the twinkle in the eyes of my grandchildren that I missed in the rush of life - with my own kids. Lot’s of joy that I want more of!

It’s being present in the moments of my day. Hearing what isn’t spoken, like the quiet sigh of a loved one that just wants my company. The extra attention my dog wants. Being still with someone, or having a conversation that invites them to share their heart. This is the good stuff that comes when I ‘give in’ or surrender to the tiredness and slow way down.

A big A-HA moment for me lately is learning to slow down enough to tune into my heart, my spirit & my soul - the whisper that came through- said to STOP, be still, breathe. When I ‘gave in’ and followed these nudges in my heart - there was a simple Sacred Moment, or realness, of noticing the most important things, quietly. It was without fanfare, and simply brought a feeling of peace. And brought my surrender to going slow real meaning.

It Became Clear to me:

Speed, efficiency, accomplishment - is all well & good. But it’s not always what's needed and it’s not my only path forward anymore!

When I’m in that fast paced mode - I might be missing the simple joys that make life worthwhile. I can’t take anything with me when I leave this world. But I can carry the love I've shared & received. I can cherish the memories and the feelings of love I hold in my heart. I can leave love and encouragement behind.

Right now, I can remind those that mean the most to me - that they are special. And connect with them today.

Those are the thumbprints I wish to leave behind.

Giving in, and surrendering to a different pace of the slowness that has come with my health recovery, changes my inner perspective. The most important use of my valuable energy & time is connecting with people that I care about.

No regrets - just a new shift in my mindset. Looking for the good stuff that's happening around me - brings a whole new perspective, and joy to my life.

What happens if ‘I give in’ and surrender to living from this new unhurried and more quiet awareness?

I’d face the most Sacred Moments of Life, Death, Living, Breathing, Breaking, Building, Celebrating, Stillness, Tenderness… with an awareness that the ancient mystics may have called Enlightenment. But I might experience them in everyday moments - not only in some grand experience or mountaintop revelation!! Just the open awareness of being all here in this moment, with open eyes, heart & spirit - connected & observing.

What if slowing down, and being present is the best gift I can give myself in this lifetime? What if in the slowness, I lean in and FIND JOY RIGHT NOW?!

Have you considered....

Do we have to wait for tiredness or health issues to slow down & really notice deeper happenings in life?

Enjoy the Sacred Moment of Slow,

Gina
